Install License File

Retrieve the Windchill license files with the built-in License Management Utility.

Use the License Management Utility to get the host ID to retrieve the license file.


Install and configure the license file

You can retrieve and manage a Windchill license in the online or offline mode.

The online mode automates the license management lifecycle. The Windchill software links directly to the License Management Portal and retrieves the license file. Our backend server synchronizes with online Windchill systems every 24 hours to detect and update subscriptions and entitlements.

The offline mode is useful when your Windchill instance works offline or cannot communicate with the PTC backend system. Retrieve and download a local copy of the license file from the License Management Portal, then point to it during installation.

When you retrieve the license file, select “uncapped license” if you are starting with a temporary license. Review the uses and requirements of uncapped licenses.
